Tech Classes Oct 12-16

Week of Oct 12-16


This week tech classes will continue with keyboarding, spelling, and programming lessons.  The 5th/6th  and 7th/8th will also continue assignments in Microsoft Word.

Grades 3-4:
  • Online spelling tests with emphasis on correct keyboarding
  • Keyboarding practice with DanceMatTyping and Typing.com 
  • MinecraftEdu - an educational version of Minecraft
Grades 5-6:

  • The students will continue practicing their keyboarding online
  • The students will continue learning simple programming concepts.  For this lesson they will use Blockly, to draw simple turtle graphics.  They can then move on to programming exercises in Scratch.
  • The students will continue Microsoft Office practice with their flyer assignment in Word.
Grades 7-8:
  • The students will continue practicing their keyboarding online
  • The students will continue learning simple programming concepts.  For this lesson they will use Scratch, to study and modify submitted projects. 
  • The students will continue Microsoft Office practice with their flyer assignment in Word, then work on a 2-column newsletter about their Outdoor Ed experience.

Tech Classes Oct 5-9

Week of Oct 5 - 9


This week tech classes will continue with keyboarding, spelling, and programming lessons.  The 5th/6th will also continue assignments in Microsoft Word. The 7th/8th classes will be at Outdoor Ed.

Grades 3-4:
  • Online spelling tests with emphasis on correct keyboarding
  • Keyboarding practice with DanceMatTyping and Typing.com
Grades 5-6:

  • The students will continue practicing their keyboarding online
  • We will use Excel to graph data from the students' typing.com results
  • The students will continue learning simple programming concepts.  For this lesson they will use Blockly, to draw simple turtle graphics.  They can then move on to programming exercises in Tynker, using some physics concepts that are used in games.
  • The students will continue Microsoft Office practice with their flyer assignment in Word.
Grades 7-8:
    • Students are at Outdoor Ed.
